Bronwyn Anderson is a Registered Psychologist (Industrial/Organisational). She has her own consulting business, Change Dynamics Ltd, and is supported nationally in her work through associates.
Bronwyn specialises in executive coaching, developing and embedding organisational and team values, providing guidance for culture change, developing skills and shifting beliefs around change leadership and change support, teamwork, resilience, emotional intelligence, change and redundancy support, career development, and other organisational development practices critical to the successful facilitation of well-led change and business improvement initiatives.
Services provided are national change support and outplacement services, culture change initiatives, training, facilitation, executive coaching, individual work and workshops.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and insightfulness underpin Bronwyn’s expertise in assisting private and public organisations to bring about transformational change that takes cognisance of their most critical resource, their people. She believes that change in organisations comes through change in people, and to achieve transformational change organisations must pay attention to internal factors such as values and culture, as well as external factors like structure and processes. Her mission is to help organisations to achieve their full potential through developing a culture where the whole person can walk through the door to work each day and stay resilient and high performing.
CULTURE CHANGE
- Designed and facilitated workshops with all staff at Government Ministry to develop their vision and values to underpin a culture change required for their strategic vision. Worked with the change management group on embedding the values, and drove the sub-committee tasked with embedding the new values.
- Worked with several not-for-profit organisations to help them shift their culture through developing and embedding values, followed with design and facilitation of workshops to support that embedding and develop the skills required to live those values. Bronwyn has also advised those organisations on policy development to support and fit with the values.
- Designed and facilitated workshops for all the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff at a major DHB to facilitate a culture change that will support a new model of care. Behaviours were developed to underpin the District Health Board’s values, agreed to by staff, and workshops facilitated to ensure all staff fully understood the behaviours they were now expected to demonstrate, and had the skills to do so.
- Worked with a large library’s senior management team to help them gain commitment to their values, and bring them into their behaviours. Trained their facilitators and managers in processes to start discussions throughout the library around the meaning of their values, matching individual values to the organisational values, and then for each team to develop a set of behaviours
Leading Change

they committed to for demonstrating those values. A set of core valued behaviours was also developed.
- Worked part time as change manager for a large national union for 18 months to enable them to completely transform their organisation around their values. Facilitated a process throughout the organisation to develop and gain ownership of the values. This work involved a major culture change, and developing decision-making processes, performance management, reporting, communication processes, selection and orientation processes, HR policies, etc. Working closely with the CEO and coaching and mentoring the management team was a vital part of this assignment.
- Advised an organisation on communications for introducing their vision of empowerment. Surveyed staff on their levels of empowerment, with a follow-up 6 months later which showed progress. Planned and facilitated a two-day conference for senior staff to clarify their understanding of empowerment, introduce them to tools, and enhance their ability to undergo and facilitate change. This enabled senior managers to make huge paradigm shifts. The survey and training was based on the latest research on empowerment. Training was also provided for all staff nationally, followed with workshops on “Empowering Yourself Through Resilience”. Bronwyn has provided ongoing consultancy to enable them to achieve an empowered workplace, including alignment within the organisation, exploring gender issues, and executive coaching.
- Developed culture surveys, facilitated focus groups to gather answers to the survey questions, and provided recommendations to the organisations’ senior teams for operating more effectively and creating the culture wanted by them and their staff.
- Worked with an organisation reducing from 300 to 100 approx. staff, advised them on strategic HR strategies, including a major culture change aimed at creating an empowered workplace. This included advising the GM on strategies for clear accountabilities, organisational development, and the personal growth of staff, preparing a launch package, and providing a detailed plan for the following 6 months.
- Assisted a range of organisations (from several hundred staff to over 4,000) implement major culture change through the design, implementation and training in a performance management system designed to change management styles and empower staff.
CHANGE LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT
- Managed national transition and outplacement projects for Government and private sector clients, including advice on how to implement restructuring, advising on involvement and management of staff remaining to minimise the impact of change, training managers in giving notification of redundancy, organising consultants to be on site at time of notification, and organising and providing assistance through counselling and workshops to all staff. Bronwyn has designed and facilitated many workshops to train managers and project teams in how to lead through, and maximise their and their staff's performance during significant change for three major NZ Banks, and many other organisations, e.g. Solid Energy, Universities, DHBs, the merger between Specialist Education Services and the Ministry of Education.
Leading Change

- Assisted a Unit within a major tertiary institution to achieve major changes through the role of change agent. This included an analysis of their needs, coaching the management team, advice, setting values with the unit, assisting teams to start up, training in performance management skills and how to lead people through change, planning the way forward, communication skills and strategies.
- For many years provided Capital Coast District Health Board and Victoria University support to all staff while undergoing change, e.g. emotional support, CV writing, interview coaching etc. This work has led to requests for team development, leadership training, coaching and debriefing.
- Contracted to provide all the change support another University required for its leaders and staff during a major change, and for various Government agencies.
- Supported the merger of Specialist Education Services and the Ministry of Education, including writing change management resources and facilitation of workshops for managers, with associates delivering workshops for staff.
- Initiated, designed, analysed, and reported on 2 national surveys of people's experience of redundancy in New Zealand.
EXECUTIVE & TEAM LEADER COACHING
- Provides executive coaching to managers in various organisations, sometimes based around their emotional intelligence assessment, resilience assessment, or MBTI. People coached include Chief Executives, Deputy Chief Executives, General Managers in Government Departments, Ministries, Crown Entities and private organisations. Bronwyn has coached extensively in tertiary institutions, including a Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean, Heads of Schools and Central Service Units, and facilitated group coaching with senior women and senior leaders on a leadership programme.
- Over the years management and communication coaching has also been provided to team leaders and supervisors in various organisations.
- The coaching of senior leaders frequently leads to working with their management teams to help them focus strategically, work effectively, and often involves facilitating strategic planning with them.
RESILIENCE AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
- Worked with individuals and teams to identify their strengths and development needs with their emotional intelligence or resilience. Facilitated workshops to analyse risks and strengths to the business, the team’s work, and team dynamics. This work has been completed with senior leadership teams, scientists, policy analysts, general practitioners, internal auditors in a major bank, IT managers in a tertiary institution, team leaders, senior nurses, dentists and rural vets.
- Bronwyn is accredited for delivery of Q-Metrics’ EQ Map and Resilience Map professional and behaviour change models.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
- Assisted the largest Group (4,000 staff) within a major NZ SOE in developing a performance management system, and trained all its managers nation-wide in the skills necessary to manage the performance of their staff, and the staff in

how to manage their own performance. This involved design of workshops and facilitation for over 55 training days.
- Provided advice on development and implementation, and designed a programme of training, to enable the smooth implementation of a new performance management system in
- Trained all staff in a large national insurance company and a large Government organisation, in how to use their performance appraisal system. Managers were trained in the skills required to manage their staff’s performance and staff were trained in how to get the most out of performance appraisal.
FACILITATION & TRAINING
- Designed and facilitated training, using a combination of Transactional Analysis, Neuro-linguistic Programming, Action Learning, and Accelerated Learning techniques for a range of topics including Leading and Building Teams, Delegation, Leading Through Change, Managing Change and Ambiguity, Feedback and Communication skills, Customer Service, Running Effective Meetings, Performance Management.
- Designed the workshops for and facilitate half of the Leading People Programme for Victoria University’s leadership programme for its senior leaders.
- Teach a workshop called staying Sane Under Pressure for a large University’s staff.
- Taught Change Leadership and Resilience & Emotional Intelligence on a DHB’s leadership programme.
- Facilitated values setting and implementation workshops for a range of organisations.
- Developed and facilitated 2-day workshops on Quality Communication For Effective Management and Change for a large Government Department.
- Facilitated conflict resolution with staff and managers, and facilitated debriefing sessions in a variety of situations and organisations.
- Facilitated many 1 and 2-day strategic planning days with senior management teams.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Developed and facilitated team building exercises to facilitate communication and changed behaviours, and enhance understanding of one another, within teams in many large companies in varying fields, e.g. insurance, financial services, a consultancy firm, communications, health, information technology, Government Ministries, Government Departments. These range from 2 days off-site to 4 month programmes, and can include MBTI and/or Belbins team types analysis for the team.
- Facilitated countless teams at all levels of organisations, e.g. senior management team at Mid central Health, Teams of Team Leaders at CCDHB, administration teams, HR teams, to develop team values and working principles, visions and mission statements, and strategic objectives and planning.
- Use a variety of tools for team development including the TetraMap, Myers Briggs MBTI, Belbins.
REVIEWS
- Identified and reported on issues related to work processes, work management, and human resource issues such as morale, stress, management styles, team work, etc, in a major review of a Unit in a Government Department. Recommended changes on structure, work processes, Human Resources best practice, external relationships and processes, and transition issues.
- Reviewed a national operational section of a Government Ministry to assess how well it is meeting its objectives, whether it has the right objectives, and reported on recommendations regarding customer relationships, strategy, personnel, structure and location of personnel, and management issues. Facilitated feedback from staff after the Review.
- Identified the issues underlying high staff turnover and dissatisfaction and provided recommendations to the senior management team of a finance and insurance company.
- Designed a culture survey and ran focus groups to identify issues and solutions several years in a row for a not-for-profit organisation, followed by a report and recommendations.
OTHER PROJECTS
- Designed and facilitated a half-day assessment centre to assess the cultural fit of applicants applying for 18 positions. This was so successful that many applicants had to be asked to leave at the end of the afternoon, and many handed in their notice before receiving notification of success or otherwise.
- Interviewed shift-workers, analysed and reported on the reasons for absenteeism and provided wide-ranging recommendations for introducing changes to increase attendance of staff and morale within a major State Owned Enterprise.
- Designed a comprehensive career development system, including the design and facilitation of career development workshops, for a major Producer Board to facilitate its ability to react flexibly to external change and assist in succession planning and multi-skilling.
- Designed and facilitated induction programmes, a variety of training programmes, and training needs analysis.
- Assisted a law firm define the core competencies required for partners to achieve their business plan, and advised on the use of the competencies.
